John H. Mize, FCAS, MAAA

John came to SVMIC as President and CEO in 2013. A chemical engineer by training, John found his way into actuarial science shortly after college and served as the company's consulting actuary for fifteen years prior to coming to SVMIC as CEO. In addition to his role at SVMIC, John is the past Chair of the Medical Professional Liability Association and Chair of the Tennessee Insurance Guaranty Association. He also volunteers on other boards and committees both within the insurance industry and in our community.

In his spare time, John enjoys golf, cooking, reading, water skiing, snow skiing, and playing cards with friends.

What one specific value of SVMIC speaks to you the most?

Service. Our commitment to serving our policyholders, our community and our team members is a key element that makes SVMIC unique. When a doctor contacts SVMIC, they are quickly connected to a competent and caring team member who addresses their need efficiently. That high level of service is increasingly rare. Helping our community and our team members demonstrates that we have a heart. It’s who we are, and that makes me even more proud of this fantastic organization.
